Effective 1 January 2024, all visitors have to submit a digital arrival card (Malaysia Digital Arrival Card, in short: MDAC) 2 or 3 days before entering Malaysia. For the time being, it will be possible to fill out the MDAC on arrival in case visitors were not aware and QR codes will be provided at the borders.
Malaysia Digital Arrival Card for Entries via KLIA 1 and KLIA 2
- Visitors of all nationalities who travel to Malaysia via KLIA 1 and KLIA 2;
- Citizens of Australia, Brunei, Germany, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, United States and UK can use the e-gate after registration and first entry
Requirements
- Passport must be valid for at least 6 months
- Submission 2-3 days before travel date
- For e-gate: minimum height of 120cm, citizens of countries listed above only
Who does not need to submit an MDAC?
- Malaysian citizens
- Malaysian PR holders
- Singaporean citizens
- Holders of Malaysian long-term passes such as Employment Pass, Residence Pass Talent, Dependant Pass, Student Pass etc.
- Holders of Brunei Common Identification Certificates (GCI)
- Brunei Malaysia Frequent Traveller Facility
- Holders of Thai border passes
- Holders of Indonesian cross-border passes
Malaysia Digital Arrival Card for Entries via Johor (land border: Johor Bahru, Tuas checkpoint)
- Visitors of all nationalities who travel to Malaysia via Johor land border;
- Singaporeans, Singaporean PR holders and holders of Malaysian long-term passes can use the e-gates
Standard Arrival through Counter
- Passport must be valid for at least 6 months
- Submission 2-3 days before travel date
Arrival through e-gate (MACS 2.0 clearance)
- Passport must be valid for at least 3 months
- Submission 3 days before travel date
- Must be a MACS 2.0 clearance holder
- 120cm minimum height
Who does not need to submit an MDAC?
- Malaysian citizens
- Malaysian PR holders
- Singaporean
- Holders of Malaysian long-term passes such as Employment Pass, Residence Pass Talent etc.
- MACS (Malaysian Automated Clearance System) clearance holders (prior 1-year clearance issued to non-Malaysian cross-border travellers from Singapore to Johor and vice versa)
- Those transiting/transferring through Singapore without seeking immigration clearance
- Holders of Brunei Common Identification Certificates (GCI)
- Brunei Malaysia Frequent Traveller Facility
- Holders of Thai border passes
- Holders of Indonesian cross-border passes
Who is eligible to get MACS 2.0 clearance?
- Singaporean
- Singaporean PR
- Holders of Malaysian long-term passes such as Employment Pass, Residence Pass Talent etc.
