Malaysian entity of leading automotive group
Our Customer, located in Kuala Lumpur, is one of the leading OEMs in the automotive industry and is operating the local production facilities, holding the overall management responsibility for Malaysia and oversees the expansion of new technologies, brands and markets, with the goal to ensure Malaysia as a future-proof location for the ASEAN regions.
The Position: Head of Government Relation (m/f/d)
This role incorporates strategic and operational relevance for the successful management of our Customer in Malaysia and further.
Our Customer maintains a close relationship with all relevant authorities and associations, e.g. Ministry of Finance, Royal Customs of Malaysia, Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), Road Transport Department and the Malaysian Automotive Association. Those organisations play a vital role in the value chain of the automotive industry. A complex and comprehensive package of grants, licenses and incentives is a vital component of our Customer´s business model. This comes, among others, with the following tasks:
- Negotiate as required to ensure the maintenance of the package offered by the Government.
- Advice the company´s Board of Management on public policy and governmental matters, including pending legislation/regulations and policy initiatives and their potential implications for the company.
- Develop the company's government relations and public policy strategy and agenda in Europe, South East Asia and/or any other countries, to help prioritize actions and resources in partnership with the company´s Board of Management and internal stakeholders.
- Participate and engage in trade organizations, non-governmental organizations and strategic industry groups where our Customer holds a membership to influence legislation, regulations and public policy that affect the industry and advance the company's interests.
- Responsible for all applications for Incentives applied regarding Import Duty, Excise and Sales Taxes for Series Material, Series Vehicles and R&D Vehicles (pre-series cars)
- Coordinate the company´s Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility Programs and Support the Company’s Risk Management Activities
Your Profile
You can best contribute to our Customer´s success with at least five years of similar experience in the automotive industry. You understand the global value chain of our Customer´s international business and are aware of the leverage for our Customer´s success. You can demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of relevant governmental structures and processes and how to reach the significant communities.
To get in touch with people is easy for you due to your friendly and extroverted character. Communicating with all levels of government representatives, suppliers, lobbyists and national and international colleagues is easy for you. Additionally you are self-driven and well organized with a meticulous approach, when it comes to documentation and date lines. Excellent English and Malay language skills are a prerequisite.
