Watch videoIn Malaysia, the German model of dual vocational training (locally known as GDVT—German Dual Vocational Training) has been successfully implemented since 2014. This program combines 70% practical training with 30% theoretical training, aiming to inspire young Malaysian graduates by providing on-the-job experience and facilitating employment opportunities after training.
On a national level, GDVT is linked to the Malaysian National Dual Training System (Sistem Latihan Dual Nasional, SLDN) and is coordinated by the Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MGCC) in collaboration with the Malaysian Department of Skills Development (Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran, JPK).
This program is designed to motivate young Malaysian school leavers by offering valuable in-company training and subsequent job placements. The dual vocational training system has proven to be a success story for Germany's commercial economy and presents companies with a well-trained workforce equipped with practical, theoretical, and personal skills tailored to their specific needs.
