As CBAM is phased in, importers of cement, iron, steel, aluminium, fertilisers, hydrogen, and electricity must comply with new reporting and payment obligations under EU regulations.
While compliance requirements apply directly to EU importers, Malaysia producers and exporters are increasingly expected to provide emissions data, improve transparency, and adopt lower-carbon processes to remain competitive and retain market access.

Hendrik Schuldt is Managing Director at carboneer, a Berlin-based carbon markets advisory firm. He has strong expertise in CBAM, assisting clients worldwide with CBAM data sourcing, automated data collection from supply chains, seamless integration into CBAM reports, and the forecasting and management of CBAM-related costs.
He is also a PhD candidate at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), researching the intersection of financial markets and climate policy.
