Since 1st April 2022 the Malaysian borders are open again, so that tourists and business travellers will be able to enter the country again, provided they are fully vaccinated. Proof of a health insurance with covers COVID-19 infections is no longer required since 1st Mai 2022. Entry permits through MyEntry or MyTravelPass are no longer necessary. German citizens will receive a visa on arrival for 90 days.

In addition, Malaysia has transitioned into an endemic phase on1st April 2022, so that most remaining restrictions - such as restrictions on travel within Malaysia only with a valid vaccination – have been eased.

Travellers such as service technicians or engineers travelling to Malaysia for technical instruction, installation or repair purposes, require a work permit in the form of a Professional Visit Pass which must be applied for by the respective company (customer, branch of the German company) in Malaysia before entry. This requirement is in line with the regulations which were applicable before the pandemic.

Separate entry requirements can apply for intra-Malaysian travel to Sarawak and Sabah.
