Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that government-linked companies (GLCs) and some private firms will soon offer technical and vocational education and training (TVET) graduates starting salaries between RM2,500 and RM4,000, exceeding the minimum wage. The salary will vary based on the graduates' Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) levels. This initiative comes amid rising demand for TVET graduates, as a study indicated that only 10% currently earn over RM2,000 a month. The Anwar government has invested over RM60 billion to enhance TVET education, aiming to address worker shortages in technical fields. A programme to assist students lagging behind in their studies is also planned for the end of the year.
