The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is the thirdlargest regional economy in Asia and the fifth-largest in the world, after the US, China, Japan and Germany. Comprised of 10 member states – Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam – ASEAN is a trade bloc that boasts a shared population of more than 660 million people and a combined gross domestic product (GDP) of almost US$3.2 trillion in 2019. Its economy is projected to grow to US$6.6 trillion by 2030.
